Miss USA Defends Racy Pole Dancing Pics

Miss USA Rima Fakih maintained her pole dancing innocence Thursday morning during an interview on Fox & Friends.

"Have you ever done those pole dancing classes?," she asked the television show's hosts. "That's what it was. My friend who is a DJ at the station said, 'Why don't you get up there?'"

Fakih, 24, became the first Arab American to win the Miss USA crown Sunday night; and less than 24 hours later, photos were released of Fakih grinding on a pole during a "Stripper 101" contest for the Detroit based radio show "Mojo In The Morning."

"A few pics were snapped, and, of course, they don't look the best angle as I normally [do]," she said of the photos, in which she wears a tank top, teeny red shorts and heels. Although she did not remove any clothes, she was declared grand prize winner of the contest and won jewelry, gift cards, adult toys and a stripper pole for home use, a rep for the radio show told UsMagazine.com.

"It wasn't pole dancing," she said. "It was more of a.....promotional event."

In 2009, Miss USA finalist Carrie Prejean was stripped of her Miss California title after topless photos of her surfaced.

According to a recent poll, 59 percent of UsMagazine.com and AskMen.com readers agreed that Fakih should not be stripped of her title. Source: usmagazine.com
