Sean Connery Shakes Up Louis Vuitton

It seems famed photog Annie Leibovitz can lure just about any celeb with her lens.

The original James Bond once said he'll never appear in another film but he stepped in front of the camera for the latest installation of the Louis Vuitton "Core Values" ad campaign. The 78-year-old icon posed on a dock in the Bahamas sporting casual duds and a Bermuda hat, and lounging beside a waterproof L.V. Keepall bag. The photo was shot near Connery's Bahamas residence. Not bad.

He looks pretty damned good, too. And apparently, the image was the result of a test shoot so Connery hadn't even hit the hair and makeup chair.

The "Core Values" campaign has featured other legendary figures like Keith Richards, Catherine Deneuve, and Francis Ford Coppola. The new ad is set to hit publications later this month.

The line will carry the name of one of their current projects, Elizabeth+James. So any thoughts? Will you be tottering around in some Olsen twin chaussures?

Gucci movie in the works

Ridley Scott, who helmed "American Gangster" and "Gladiator," is set to produce and direct a biopic based on the Gucci family dynasty. Women's Wear Daily says the big-budget flick will focus on the meteoric rise and near fall of the Italian fashion empire in the 1970s and '80s. The plot will revolve around the late Maurizio Gucci and his nasty battle with his cousins to protect his 50 percent stake in the business. It's also expected to include the scandalous murder attempt on Maurizio by his wife, Patrizia Reggiani, who's now in the slammer for hiring a hit man to try blowing him away.

Kirsten Dunst has signed on to front Miu Miu next season. The actress recently shot the spring/summer 2008 campaign. London Fashion Week to allow thin models

Models strutting catwalks at London Fashion Week should provide a certificate attesting their good health, but there will be no outright ban on wafer-thin women, the British Fashion Council said on Friday. In its report, the council recommended models under 16 should be outlawed from London's catwalks. It said a medical certificate must be provided by September from doctors specializing in eating disorders. Spain and Italy have recommended banning models with a body mass index (BMI) of less than 18.5 from catwalks, but the expert panel behind the report rejected the use of the index, saying it was not an accurate measure of health. "We have considered this carefully and listened to a range of expert views. But we do not believe a focus on BMI provides the way forward," the report said. "We favor the alternative approach of promoting good health based on medical assessments of models participating in London Fashion Week." The report acknowledged there was a problem with eating disorders among models and recommended a health education and awareness program be set up. "During the investigation, evidence of the vulnerability of women in the modeling profession was startling and models are at a high risk of eating disorders," said the chair of the inquiry.

Lindsay and Louis Vuitton: the end of an affair

From today's New York Post:

"Lindsay Lohan, who vanished after her arrest 10 days ago and is said to be confined at a California rehab - possibly the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage - was once in the running to be the new face of Louis Vuitton. But after a disastrous Elle magazine shoot two months ago, the luxury line will no longer even lend her clothes. 'Louis Vuitton had sent over some samples for her to wear in the shoot,' said a snitch. 'Lindsay kept shoving clothes into her bag, and a stylist's assistant kept getting them out of the bag, only to have Lindsay keep trying to take them. She ended up walking off with a very expensive shirt and some other items - which screwed Louis Vuitton because they were set to go to Vogue, W and Harper's Bazaar for other shoots. They were furious and kept trying to get their clothes back, but...Lindsay walked out with them and never returned calls.' The issue hits stands today, in which she's asked about the photo shoot and replies, 'I wanted everything. There was this Cartier watch, and I was like, 'What do I have to do to get this watch?' Reps for Louis Vuitton, Elle and Lohan didn't return calls."

Jess gets into the swim

Jessica Simpson is launching a bikini line to go along with her rapidly expanding business ventures, which include a skincare empire, hair extension project, shoe and clothing lines and plans for lingerie designs. Simpson will reportedly debut the swimwear during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Miami next month. Featuring skimpy bikinis and more modest one-piece suits, the designs will be shown on models personally selected by the singer.

Posh shows her diva side

Rumors are rampant that there was trouble behind the seams of Victoria Beckham's new denim line, dVb. The Spice Girl alum spoke few words to the press at last Thursday's grand unveiling at Saks last Thursday, saying the new jeans were "wonderful" and she was "so excited" to be involved. Beckham was no joy to work with, according to insiders. "The partnership with Rock & Republic was terminated," said an insider close to the label. "Victoria was horrible to work with - indecisive and inconsistent and generally not present at all. She attached her name to it but didn't want to do any of the work - unless she was promoting the line in front of the cameras, of course."

Ashley Judd to debut budget fashion label

Actress Ashley Judd will launch a clothing line this fall. "I'm thrilled to be involved in a clothing line that provides simple, lovely solutions for women's wardrobes," Judd said of her new gig. Her budget fashions were created in a joint venture with Goody's Family Clothing.

Jane mag gets its own reality show

Likely inspired by the success of The Hills and what the reality show did for circulation over at Teen Vogue, Jane mag is getting it's own reality show. The Fashionista Diaries will follow six fashion assistants - two in public relations, two in beauty, and two in magazines. The show will be produced by the team behind Laguna Beach and is set to begin airing in July on SoapNet.

Gisele hangs up her wings

Don't look for Gisele Bundchen in the pages of your next Victoria's Secret catalog. The leggy supermodel is reportedly hanging up her wings because the lingerie company wouldn't pony up her demands for a $5 million-a-year salary. "Her demands were outrageous," says a source. "She got a new lawyer who was unrealistic. Victoria's Secret doesn't care. They have five new hotter, younger girls debuting next year. And they won't have to deal with any craziness." Reps for Bundchen have not commented, but her sister Patricia confirmed the news to the Brazilian website Glamurana.

Mary-Kate and Ashley's pricey clothing line

The first pictures of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's new clothing line, The Row, have been released. The collection carries hefty price tags, with a $3,220 Tuscan lamb-fur coats, $1,700 cashmere tuxedo jackets, $875 strapless dresses and $360 legging-style pants. The mini-moguls have been keeping details about the line secret, not even allowing journalists to attend the collection preview in Paris earlier this year. For more, check out fashionologie.com.

Kate's copycat collection

Kate Moss has created a buzz of controversy for her upcoming Topshop clothing line. Moss was paid close to $6 million to design a signature line for the British retailer, but it seems the model looked no further than her own closet for inspiration, with some pieces looking practically identical to stuff made by other designers she's worn before. "You can almost see the paparazzi images in your head," says the fashion director for Harper's Bazaar. "It's self-referential," says the marketing editor at Business Week. "Who is she other than all those pictures from before? Do we really expect her clothing to be what's in Kate Moss's brain? No. We expect it to be stuff she's worn before." In an ironic twist, retail tycoon Sir Philip Green has issued a warning to other retailers about ripping off Moss's Topshop collection. "Everything's copyrighted and I will sue," Green has said. "We've made a big investment and we don't want it undermined."

Kate immortalized in type

In addition to her clothing line, fragrance, and multiple ad campaigns, Kate Moss now has her very own font. Two graphic designers worked with the model to create a letterhead that will be featured in the branding for Moss's TopShop collection as well as all of her future projects. The designers originally thought they would use Moss's handwriting, but decided they didn't like the way it looked, and turned to old issues of Harper's Bazaar dating back to the '30s, '40s and '50s for inspiration. I'm green with envy - I'd love to have my own font!

Drew Barrymore: CoverGirl

Drew Barrymore had been announced as CoverGirl's newest model and spokesperson. The Music and Lyrics actress will also be co-creating the ads she appears in, consulting on the concept, graphics, lighting, and photo cropping. "I leave the makeup and product up to them, that's their expertise," Barrymore says. "What I want to do is honor the tradition of CoverGirl but hopefully bring myself and my personality into it, as well as some edgy fashion-forward thinking and positivity to it... I like to be involved in every aspect. I'm a control freak but I keep those issues at bay when I work with other people." Barrymore said she jumped at the chance to try her hand at modelling. "What girl doesn't fantasize about it?" she said.

Katie and Posh working on kids clothing line

BFFs Katie Holmes and Victoria Beckham are reportedly going ahead with plans to launch a line of children's clothing. "Katie drew sketches of a dress she wanted Suri to wear on her birthday, and they discussed it over a glass of wine," says a source close to Beckham. The pair are hoping to snag a few tips from fellow celeb designer Gwen Stefani, adds the source. Holmes's rep denies the plan, but the friend insists, "they've been talking about it for months." An employee at LA's International Silk and Woolens says Mrs. Cruise is a regular, revealing, "Katie comes in all the time. She makes pillows, curtains and all kinds of decorations for her home."
